That's a wicked use of Photomatrix for a "n00b". I've seen some nasty overprocessed stuff come out of first time Photomatrix users. Did you use a series of jpgs or one RAW to accomplish this? Well done Celine C.

Wow, thanks, jpghouse! I actually shot it raw and then created different exposures with Lightroom. I know I could have done it straight from the raw, too, but I wasn't sure if I was going to use hdr or exposure blending at the time. And then, because I thought it might be too much on the hdr end, I did a 75% layer over the original photo to get a bit of the reality back in there.

Works for me, this is lovely!

Wow very nice. I could probably learn a thing or two on how you did this in photomatix. I am one of those ppl usually getting the over processed feel.

Thank you, Zach. But honestly, I have no idea what I'm doing. I just fiddled with the various settings until I got to where I felt it didn't totally suck. :)

Very nice, been a while since I've had good results with HDR. I'm jealous

this is rather nice, and your explanation of the process just makes me feel like giving you a Nobel Prize! wouldn't have a clue on how to do that! excellent!

Cool shot with unique HDR effects. I used similar HDR effects using Paint Shop Pro X2.
