Now that Zooomr 2008 has launched successfully this place feels like a complete site again with most of the necessary features like account management, proper EXIF support and jUploadr (fingers crossed) in place.

So now that most of the basics are covered, what's next for the site? On the Zooomr FAQ (last updated June 2007) it says: "In the next few months we will be launching our marketplace site for photo buyers." I know Zooomr has gone through some turbulent times since that was posted but it feels like a good time to ask if anybody has any idea if any plans exist to develop the marketplace from a piece of metadata to the fully featured service that was planned in 2007.

I know this is a challenging feature and there are probably some simpler things that should come first (ability to search group postings and view an index of the groups, for example) but I think this would be a great feature for the site both in terms of revenue generation and "reasons why Zooomr is better than Flickr".

With progress being made and a new home in Japan, I now feel confident enough in Zooomr to commit to a year long membership and go Pro, which I did this evening. Well done Kris for all your hard work to keep this place going. This release was 100000000x better than the last one and I look forward to seeing some cool new website features in the months ahead. You have my money now, so please don't disappoint ;)
